Kim Petras – Born in 1992
Kim Petras, born Tim Petras in Cologne, Germany, is a trailblazing pop singer and songwriter. From a young age, she identified as female and began hormone replacement therapy at 12. In 2006, at 13, she appeared on television to discuss her medical gender transition. By 16, she underwent gender confirmation surgery.
In 2008, she released her debut single, “Fade Away.” In 2023, Kim became the first openly transgender woman to win a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for her collaboration with Sam Smith in “Unholy.” Beyond music, Kim became the face of MAC Cosmetics’s Viva Glam campaign in 2024.
