Most Amish Mennonite houses don’t have electricity. Yep, no Netflix binging, no fridge full of leftovers, and no smart home gadgets. Why? It’s all about simplicity and avoiding distractions that could distract them from their values. Without electricity, they live on their terms, not dictated by glowing screens and power-hungry appliances.
And here’s the kicker: no electricity means no electricity bills. While most of us are shelling out monthly payments to the electric company, these people have one less thing to worry about. Sure, it might not be for everyone, but there’s something to be said for cutting down on those pesky bills.
