Another radical transgender physical transformation was necessary for the role of Lili Elbe in The Danish Girl. Actor Eddie Redmayne accepted the challenge to play one of the first people ever have switched their gender and ended up looking like he had undergone a real gender transformation himself. The actor not only focused on the looks, but he also read a bunch of books on the subject to get into character. Redmayne also had to lose weight for the role, saying he ate some breakfast and barely had lunch on most days.
