Sunny Johnson était connue notamment pour son rôle en tant que Jeanie dans le film Flashdance, parut en 1983. Elle a aussi fait part d’autres séries et films, et avait un grand avenir devant elle. Malheureusement, pendant la nuit du 18 juin 1984, elle a été victime d’une rupture d’un vaisseau sanguin au cerveau. Le 19 juin 1984, elle fut déclarée cliniquement morte et fut alors débranchée.
