Na het voltooien van haar studie kreeg Katja Schuurman de gelegenheid om te verschijnen in de populaire serie Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden. Hiermee brak ze nationaal door in haar rol als Jessica Harmsen. Ze maakte naam, niet alleen als actrice, maar ook als zangeres met haar mede-castleden uit de serie. Haar dynamische persoonlijkheid trok de aandacht en ze werd al snel een bekend gezicht op de meeste televisiezenders. Tegenwoordig is het bijna niet voor te stellen om de televisie aan te zetten zonder Katja ergens tegen te komen, of het nu als presentator, gast of jurylid is.
