Caroline “Tula” Cossey – Born in 1954
Caroline “Tula” Cossey, born in Norfolk, England, is a British model and actress renowned for being one of the first openly transgender women in the fashion industry. Although she was assigned male at birth, she began hormone therapy and underwent gender confirmation surgery. She then started modeling, gracing publications like “Australian Vogue” and “Harper’s Bazaar.”
In 1981, she appeared as an extra in the James Bond film “For Your Eyes Only.” In 1991, she became the first trans woman to pose for “Playboy” magazine. The following year, she married Canadian David Finch. Beyond modeling, Caroline has continually advocated for transgender rights, challenging discriminatory laws in the UK.
