Lana Wachowski – Born in 1965
Lana Wachowski, born Laurence Wachowski, is an acclaimed filmmaker best known for co-directing “The Matrix.” In the early 2000s, she began her gender transition, making her first public appearance as Lana in 2012 during the promotion of “Cloud Atlas.” Her transformation included hormone therapy and surgeries, leading to a more traditionally feminine appearance.
Lana’s journey was supported by her family, including her sister Lilly, who also came out as transgender in 2016. In 2021, she directed “The Matrix Resurrections,” the fourth installment of the iconic franchise. Her openness about her transition has made her a significant figure in the transgender community, inspiring many with her authenticity.
