Carmen Carrera – Born in 1985
Carmen Carrera, born Christopher Roman, gained prominence in 2011 as a contestant on Season 3 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Initially performing as a drag artist, she began her gender transition in 2012, undergoing hormone replacement therapy and gender confirmation surgery. This transformation led to a more traditionally feminine appearance.
In 2014, Carmen made history by becoming the first openly transgender model signed to “Elite Model Management” in New York City. Her journey from reality TV to high-fashion modeling has been instrumental in increasing transgender visibility in mainstream media. In 2023, Carmen accused the writers of the show “Pose” of using elements of her life story without permission.
