40. Entertaining the Troops
The Vietnam War was a famously devastating period in the United States history, and American politicians knew they needed to address the problem of low morale among their young troops out in the jungle. Their answer? To fly over film and music stars to keep the young men entertained.
Here we see international attraction symbol Raquel Welch dancing with the troops, and clearly loving every moment. This visit was to the 9th infantry division in South Vietnam, which was also visited by comedian Bob Hope during the very same tour. No doubt it brought a few smiles to some weary faces!
