Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is known around the world for her calm demeanor… something which makes this action shot even more remarkable. Here she stands with an L85 machine gun, letting it rip into the distance – a far step from her usual regal image!
Taken in 1993, this shot of the head of the British army is a truly incredible one. However, military service is nothing alien to her majesty – during the second world war, she served as a driver and mechanic, and she comes from a long line of military personnel.
