Rare Photos From The History Books You Have to See to Believe
Dressed Up For Flying
This photo was taken in 1959 and it shows the comical moment that Swedish Airlines stewardess, Birgitta Lindman, was called in to check out a showgirl’s short skirt. This was after being informed that air hostess’ uniforms would also be getting a more modern, shorter overhaul.

Lindman was already a famous face – indeed, her visage had faced many cameras and was featured on the cover of Life magazine in 1958. The cover was a major advertisement move for SAS. She had competed against hostesses around the world to have the honor of being photographed for a special feature.
