Shown inspecting his troop on top of a horse in 2012, North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un looks both imposing and faintly ridiculous at the same time, as is pretty typical for this unpredictable tyrant. But just as it is, this picture is conveying an important and intentional message.
The world of North Korean politics and daily life are kept a closely guarded secret. However, camera shots like this one are used as powerful political propaganda images, and show very clearly how the country wishes to be seen by the outside world.
