Kane Tanaka – 116
Kane Tanaka has just been proclaimed as the oldest person on the planet following Chiyo Miyako’s death earlier this Summer. Kane, who originates from Fukuoka in Japan, was born in January 1903 and is only a few months away from having her 116th birthday! Tanaka is actually a cancer survivor as she had been diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 103. During an interview at the nursing home she is currently living in, she said that her family and a good night’s sleep is what keeps her alive all these years and she wishes to live for five more!
