Na het voltooien van haar studie kreeg Katja Schuurman de gelegenheid om te verschijnen in de populaire serie Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden. Hiermee brak ze nationaal door in haar rol als Jessica Harmsen. Ze maakte naam, niet alleen als actrice, maar ook als zangeres met haar mede-castleden uit de serie.
