Not All Athletes Are Made Equal, Some Do Silly Things Like This
Beach Volleyball Gymnastics
This looks more like an accidental acrobatics audition than a beach volleyball game. At the 2004 Athens Olympics, one player tripped on the sand, and here, it looks like the other is either bracing for impact or deciding if catching her teammate is worth the risk. The ball is flying off on a little adventure, probably planning to score itself.
We can almost feel the sand in our hair just looking at this chaotic scene. Unplanned teamwork like this will always be remembered—not for points scored, but for laughs later. Somewhere in the crowd, someone is probably wondering if this counts as a new Olympic sport.
