Jennifer Beals apareceu no filme blockbuster Flashdance de 1983 e instantaneamente ganhou fama como a rainha da dança. Toda garota naquela época queria ser e dançar como ela. Suas cenas de dança foram copiadas em muitos vídeos e outros filmes em todo o mundo. No entanto, ela não se importou muito e retornou a Yale para terminar sua graduação, sendo uma estudante de Yale enquanto filmava Flashdance.
