We were running out of ideas, but then something clicked. “Let’s try that diner Jason likes,” Adam suggested. It was his usual hangout with friends, a place he often slipped away to when things got tough. We walked in, and I scanned the crowd, hoping to spot him in the mix. The diner was full, but there was no sign of Jason.

Just as we were about to lose hope, we approached the waitress. I pulled out my phone and showed her a picture of Jason. She studied it for a moment, then nodded. “Yeah, he was here last night. He took some takeout and seemed in a hurry.”
