John Wayne – Discovered While Working As A Prop Boy
Growing up, John Wayne was on a football scholarship but he later lost it after going through a serious bodysurfing accident. He then started working as a prop boy for the Fox Film Corporation and was offered a starring role when he was seen by director Raoul Walsh pushing some furniture around. Wayne ended up starring as Breck Coleman on The Big Trail. The most popular roles he had in his career were in movies like True Grit, Sands of Iwo Jima, and The Alamo. Wayne was 72 years old when he died back in 1979 due to stomach cancer.
