How the Amish Are Smarter With Money Than You (And They Don’t Even Have Wi-Fi)
Social Security? Not in the Amish Playbook!
This community isn’t exactly throwing cash into the Social Security pot every month. And here’s why: they don’t participate. At the same time, the rest of us are chipping in for retirement and a government “safety net,” the Amish opt-out. Why? Well, they prefer to rely on their community for support when needed.
This means no payroll taxes for them; they earn a little more each month. Not bad, right? There are no significant government deductions, just straight to the bank. Of course, the downside is that when it comes to retirement, the society doesn’t get a Social Security check—just a solid network of neighbors ready to help.
