Taran Noah Smith is probably only known for his role as Mark Taylor on the sitcom Home Improvement. He played the Tim Taylor’s youngest son next to Jonathan Taylor Thomas who played the first son.

When he was cast in 1991 for the show he was only 7 years old and he appeared in more than 200 episodes. During the time the show was running he had many more acting jobs. For example on Ebbie, Little Bigfoot 2 and 7th Heaven. At the end of Home Improvement in 1999 he decided to retire from acting. 2 years after the show ended he was quoted saying, “I started Home Improvement when I was 7, and the show ended when I was 16. I never had the chance to decide what I wanted to do with my life. When I was 16, I knew that I didn’t want to act anymore.”

The Home Improvement star made huge headlines when he was 17 years old and got married to Heidi van Pelt who was 33 years old at the time. At the same time he accused his parents of stealing money from his trust fun worth US$ 1.5 million. Since then he has gotten divorced and reunited with his family.

The 28-year-old Home Improvement actor – was taken into custody by police in L.A. for driving under the influence of marijuana, and also found a stash of hash in his vehicle. Smith pled guilty to the drug possession charge and “no contest” to the DUI charge and was sentenced to a 12-hour program for the DUI, a six-month drug diversion program for the hash offense and three years of probation.
