Selena Gomez – Became An International Star

Selena Marie Gomez was born and raised in Texas by her 16 year old mum who recalls living from paycheck to paycheck. Gomez first started to act on the show Barney & Friends but they cancelled her role after two years. Afterwards she had guest roles in shows like Hannah Montana and The Suite Life Of Zack And Cody. It was only in 2007 though when she landed her role of Alex Russo in Disney’s Wizards of Waverly that she rose to national fame. She starred in several other Disney productions. She had her own production company and was contracted by Hollywood Records with her band Selena Gomez & the Scene. They released their first album in 2011.

In 2014 she fired her parents as her managers and signed a contract with another management company. Her most recent music album was released in 2015. Her album topped as number one on the Billboard 200 and three singles entered the Mainstream Top 40 charts. Gomez also has her own clothing label and is the most followed Instagram user in the world.

It was reported that Gomez has Lupus. Recently, she has been bailing many concerts and saying it was because of her illness. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can severely damage a person’s body parts. Further, Gomez allegedly is abusing prescription medication and is undergoing substance abuse rehabilitation. An unknown source said that Selena was popping pills non-stop. Among her favorite medications are Lunesta, Ambien, Klonopin and Xanax.

Currently, she is set to produce the original series 13 Reasons Why on Netflix. She is focusing on her acting career, besides singing, and fashion designing.
