Piper – der tierische Flughafensheriff
Am Flughafen sind nicht nur Menschen im Einsatz. An manchen Orten leisten auch vierbeinige Kollegen ihren Beitrag zur Sicherheit. Einer der bekanntesten ist Piper, ein Border Collie aus Michigan, der am Cherry Capital Airport als Wildtier-Vertreiber arbeitet. Seine Aufgabe ist es, Vögel, Füchse und andere Tiere von den Landebahnen fernzuhalten, um Kollisionen mit Flugzeugen zu vermeiden.
Piper ist dabei nicht nur ein Profi in seiner Rolle, sondern mittlerweile auch eine Berühmtheit. Mit einer Schutzbrille, Ohrenschützern und einer Weste ausgerüstet, sieht er aus wie ein Agent im Einsatz. Während seiner Dienstjahre hat er zahlreiche Tiere erfolgreich vertrieben, darunter sogar Schneeeulen.
