Cassandra Peterson begann als kleine Vegas-Showgirl im zarten Alter von 17 Jahren – aber der Erfolg erwartete sie schon bald! Elvira wurde bei den Zuschauern im ganzen Land zu einer Sensation, und Peterson nutzte ihren neu gefundenen Erfolg, indem sie Filme wie Elvira Mistress of the Dark und Elvira’s Haunted Hills drehte. Sie spendete auch große Summen, die aus ihren Filmen stammen, an HIV/AIDS-Organisationen und Wohltätigkeitsorganisationen für Tiere.
