Auch heute noch mit ihren 74 Jahren ist Gitte Hænning immer noch sehr aktiv. Erst in 2018 noch haben wir sie beim Theater sehen dürfen und sie macht dabei immer noch eine sehr gute Figur. Bevor Gitta in Deutschland als Schlagersängerin erfolgreich wurde, war sie bereits ein gefeierter Kinderstar in Skandinavien. 1958, da war sie gerade mal 12 Jahre alt, hatte sie schon 16 Platten veröffentlicht und war in Kinofilmen und im Fernsehen zu sehen. Der große Durchbruch gelang ihr in Deutschland mit dem Lied „Ich will `nen Cowboy als Mann“, welches damals die Charts erstürmte. Danach war sie eine der beliebtesten Schlagersängerinnen ihrer Zeit.
