228. Dana Plato – DRUG OVERDOSE
A tragic example of how a child star could go bad, Dana Plato gained fame as Kimberly on Diff’rent Strokes. She starred in the show for about eight years. It was then that her history with drugs and alcohol begun and soon a pregnancy caused the studio to fire her from the series. She made appearances in movies made for TV and also did voice-over work. However, she was unable to achieve much success. She followed a downward spiral of substance abuse and a failing career until it all ended in 1999. She was found dead inside her motor home, the result of a drug overdose.
