Vera Lynn’s career started in a different way to others in the entertainment industry. She first began as singer for the troops during World War II. She said she felt this gave the soldiers some support in the only way she possibly could. Following the end of the war, Vera then began to further her career on both TV and radio. Shortly, she found herself to be a worldwide star, especially in Britain and the United States of America. Her career has earnt her a net worth of $20 million over the years, but she hasn’t stopped yet. Although she is an incredible 101 years old Vera has put a halt to her singing, but still has a very active lifestyle where she engages in a lot of charity work to help women with breast cancer as well as children who are disabled. And if that’s not enough, she has also been named an official Dame of the United Kingdom!
