LaMotta, the middle-weight American boxer of Italian origin in Martin Scorsese’s Raging Bull, was played by no other than Robert de Niro. If you think that De Niro’s boxing lessons were part of the preparations, you are right. However, Mr. De Niro took it further and actually participated in three real box matches in Brooklyn to brush up his boxing skills. If you are wondering how he did against real professional boxers, he actually won two of those boxing matches. In addition, the actor gained 60 pounds, showing true commitment to the role.
