She’s considered to be the last living child star of the silent film era, and just imagine that this lady had a $1.5-million salary back in the ’20s! The ’30s were not as kind towards Peggy though and with the lack of a stream of work, she found herself in a bad financial spot. She gradually gave up acting to pursue a career as a silent film historian and an author, under the pseudonym, Diana Serra Cary.
