Jared Leto unterzog sich einigen der drastischsten Veränderungen, bis hin zur Unkenntlichkeit. Er musste sich auf die Rolle des Mark David Chapman vorbereiten, der John Lennon tötete, und er nahm seine Aufgabe so ernst, wie es Hollywood wollte. Der Schauspieler nahm nicht nur durch Fast Food zu, sondern verließ sich auch auf Nahrungsergänzungsmittel zur Gewichtszunahme und landete am Ende mit 67 Pfund mehr. Für eine wahrheitsgetreue Darstellung seiner Rolle war auch die Haarentfernung Teil des Geschäfts. Später verlor er das ganze Gewicht, indem er Diät machte, kleine Portionen aß und Sport trieb.
