Eine weitere American Idol Kandidatin, die es schwer verloren hat, ist Lauren Alaina. Die Singer/Songwriterin erlebte seit ihrem Debüt bei American Idol eine ganze Wandlung, nachdem sie 25 Pfund abgenommen hatte. Nach der Show, während sie auf Tour war, nahm sie ungesunde Gewohnheiten der Gewichtsabnahme wahr und ließ schnell 40 Pfund ab. Es wandte sich der Bulimie zu und sie versteckte die Essstörung, indem sie sowohl eine Diät einführte als auch Sport trieb. Sie bekam endlich ihr Leben wieder in Ordnung und nutzte die Musik, um über ihre Kämpfe zu sprechen. Ihr Lied Road Less Travelled spricht über die Essstörung, mit der sie einst zu kämpfen hatte, wegen der fetten Scham, die sie erlitten hat.
