Anne Rice decidiu que era hora de cuidar de seu corpo depois que o marido faleceu. Enquanto sua mãe morreu devido a um vício em álcool, algo que Anne felizmente não tem, se tivesse, pelo que conhecemos Anne, ela provavelmente iria a um centro de reabilitação de álcool – estes centros de REHAB são muito comuns nos Estados Unidos e Europa, embora não tenha tido esse problema Anne teve um problema com seu peso. Seu método de perda de peso foi o da cirurgia de bypass gástrico, que levou a uma perda impressionante de 46 quilos rapidamente. Após a cirurgia Anne manteve uma dieta restrita pois é continuação do procedimento realizado.
