Foi em 1939, quando agentes da Paramount dnotaram Darryl Hickman, que instantaneamente encontrou seu lugar no elenco de The Star Maker. Na verdade, Bing Crosby ficou chocado com sua performance e queria que ele fizesse história na indústria de atuação. Quando Hickman cresceu, porém, ele começou a se afastar da atuação, e mais tarde afirmou que precisava de terapia, expressando suas críticas contra crianças que trabalhavam como atores. Ele então trabalhou como produtor e diretor e agora está chegando aos 90.
