In the Amish world, formal education stops after 8th grade. High school and college? Not so much. Why? These people place a significant value on practical skills over academic ones. They believe education should focus on preparing young people for life within the community—learning trades, farming, and how to live.
So, while we rack up student loans and stress about college degrees, the Amish finish their schooling early and get to work. And here’s the twist: they save big without all the high school and college tuition costs. Maybe it’s time to rethink those pricey college expenses and focus on what matters—like learning to fix a leaky sink.
