Susan Dey war vor allem für ihre Rolle als Laurie Patridge in der amerikanischen TV-Show The Patridge Family bekannt. Sie bekam die Rolle, als sie erst 17 Jahre alt war und keinerlei Erfahrung als Schauspielerin hatte. Ihr unschuldiges Aussehen und ihr frisches Talent brachten ihr auch eine Reihe von Golden Globe-Nominierungen ein. Es wurde gemunkelt, dass Susan für einen kurzen Zeitraum in ihren Bildschirmbruder, gespielt von David Cassidy, verknallt war. Das Paar verabredete sich ein bisschen, bis sie die Sache abbrachen und Susan ihren Agenten heiratete. Susan bleibt trotzdem makellos für ihr Alter!
