Karine Jean-Pierre, the first Black and openly gay White House press secretary, and Suzanne Malveaux, a distinguished journalist and former CNN anchor, began their relationship in 2012 after meeting at the Democratic National Convention. Their connection deepened over time, leading them to jointly adopt a daughter, Soleil, in 2014.
Balancing high-profile careers and parenthood, they navigated the complexities of public life together. In January 2023, Suzanne left CNN to focus on family and new opportunities. However, by September of that year, Karine announced their separation. Despite their split, both remain dedicated to co-parenting and providing a nurturing environment for their daughter.
