The Nutty Professor ist auch einer der Filme, die viel Arbeit in der Schauspielerei erforderten. Eddy Murphy, in der Hauptrolle von Sherman Klump, musste einen Fettanzug mit angebrachten Latex-Wasserblasen tragen, damit es so aussieht, als ob er wirklich auf die Pfunde packte. Der prominente Make-up-Künstler Baker musste Eddys Gesicht mit zusätzlichen Kinn und Rollen versehen, passend zum 300 Pfund schweren Fettanzug. Er machte eine Maske aus Murphys Gesicht, die mit einer Latexform bedeckt war, um mehr Glaubwürdigkeit zu erlangen.
