Die 57-jährige Schauspielerin wurde für ihre Rolle der Anomalisa in The Hateful Eight von 2015 mit einem Oscar nominiert. Im Jahr 2017 trat sie in der TV-Serie Twin Peaks auf. Sie war von 2005 bis 2013 mit Noah Baumbach verheiratet und bekam mit diesem Mann ein Kind. Jüngere Fans kennen Leigh heutzutage für ihre Rolle als Elsa Gardner in der Show Atypical und werden sie in einem neuen Film namens Possessor wiederfinden.
